Depart via Air India trans-Atlantic flight for Delhi, India.
Day 2, Wednesday - Delhi
Arrive in Delhi, India's vibrant capital, where you transfer to your hotel. (The Park Hotel/Le Meridien Hotel)
Day 3, Thursday - Delhi
Afternoon tour of Old and New Delhi includes Humayun's Tomb, inspiration for the Taj Mahal; the Qutab Minar, an impressive 234-foot 13th-century minaret; and the Red Fort. (B)
Day 4, Friday - Delhi/Udaipur
Fly to Udaipur on the banks of Lake Pichola. Explore the City Palace with its elaborate decor, the Sahelion Ki Bari Gardens, the Jagdish Temple, and the local folk art museum. (Trident Hilton Hotel/ Fateh Prakash Hotel) (B)
Day 5, Saturday - Udaipur
A full day of sightseeing features a visit to the dazzling white marble temples of Ranakpur. Situated in the idyllic Arivali valley, Ranakpur is known as "the tranquil pilgrimage town." (B)
Day 6, Sunday - Udaipur/Jaipur

Day 7, Monday - Jaipur
Morning journey outside town to the Amber Fort. Make your ascent to the 17th-century palace on the back of a gaily caparisoned elephant and tour this distinguished specimen of Rajput architecture. (B)
Day 8, Tuesday - Jaipur/Agra
Travel east to Agra via Fatehpur Sikri, a deserted sandstone city with audience halls, palaces, mosques and tombs. Continue to Agra, situated on the banks of the Yamuna River, and transfer to the hotel. (Trident Hilton Hotel/Mughal Sheraton Hotel) (B)
Day 9, Wednesday - Agra
Today, explore one of the seven wonders of the world, the
Taj Mahal. Continue to the Agra Fort with its 70-foot
sandstone wall and maze of finely designed mosques,
palaces and courtyards, many of marble. (B)
Day 10, Thursday - Agra/Khajuraho
Take train to Khajuraho and tour the Chandela Dynasty
temples, which house intricately carved statues and friezes
portraying local life 1,000 years ago. (Holiday Inn/Taj

Day 11, Friday - Khajuraho/Varanasi
Fly east to Varanasi on the Ganges River and religious
capital of the Hindu world. Journey outside the city to
Sarnath. Explore the ruins of monasteries and the museum's

Day 12, Saturday - Varanasi/Bombay
Early this morning, capture the essence of this holy city as
your boat glides along the sacred waters of the Ganges,
flanked by shrines, temples and palaces rising in several tiers.
See pilgrims immersing themselves in the holy waters.
Continue through the old city, a maze of narrow lanes,
bazaars and some 2,000 temples and shrines. Later in the
day, fly to Bombay. On arrival, transfer to hotel. (Marine

Day 13, Sunday - Bombay
After breakfast, take a motor launch across the harbor to
the island of Elephant and its sculpted caves dating from
the fifth through eighth centuries. This afternoon's city
tour includes the Gateway of India, Hanging Gardens, the
bustling Crawford Market, Flora Fountain, and the Prince
of Wales Museum. (B)
Day 14, Monday - Bombay/USA
You are transferred to the airport to continue with our
Nepal Extension (below) or our Ellora & Ajanta Caves
Extension, or for your return flight to the US, arriving
home the same day. (B)
